Rj's Film Focus - actress Naomi Watts

Naomi Watts is a beautiful actress originally from Australia. From Ring to King Kong she's always shown me depth and humor in her characters. Naomi seamlessly bounces from genre to genre on screen and on stage.
Her career has been amazing to this point and I see her only getting better with time.

A Clash Of Style At The Weekend Box Office

This weekend at the box office we will find three very different films clashing. First up the great cast in "Killer Elite" including Robert DeNiro,Jason Statham and Clive Owen. Second we have the hip funny and somewhat true story baseball film "Moneyball" starring Brad Pitt and Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Third is the pop film "Abduction" a hopeful star vehicle for "Twilight's" Taylor Lautner. Lastly is another true story "Dolphin Tale" starring Morgan Freeman. So the question is who has the chops to bring home number one this weekend?? Here are my predictions.

  1. Dolphin Tale
  2. Moneyball
  3. Abduction
  4. Killer Elite
But if you want to know what i want to see this weekend its KILLER ELITE all the way!

The 2011 Emmys was hosted by the Jane Lynch and she was funny and sharp throughout the show. Charlie Sheen gave a quick and somewhat dignified response to his situation with Two And A Half Men...show creator Chuck Lorre was in the crowd and no signs of drama between the two on the night. The big winners were Modern Family for comedy and Mad Men in drama. overall i felt the broadcast was entertaining and also a few good emotional moments from winners.

Movie News - Point Break To Be Remade

Another movie i grew up loving is going to get the hollywood remake treatment. " Point Break" first made popular by Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze. Directed by the talented Kathyrn Bigelow (Hurt Locker) will now be in the hands of producer/screen writer Kurt Wimmer who will also be writing the script for the Total Recall remake. That's a lot of pressure on one writer, though i'm sure in the end many writers will get their hands on the script.  No director has been pin pointed to direct the Point Break remake yet. Who would you like to see? How about Brett Rattner? leave a comment with an idea or opinion.

Who would you like to see direct the remake of POINT BREAK??

Next Movie You Can't Wait To See?

New movies have been hit or miss lately. I was looking forward to Real Steel but then the preview showed me the entire movie. Killer Elite should be a winner, a cast that strong should make even a bad script good. Feel free to leave a comment about a film you are looking forward to seeing.

What Films Are You Excited To See??

Movie News " Sequel Madness a Money Issue "

This post will be short and sweet. Its all been done in Hollywood. The question we see is, why are they making a sequel for this movie? The answer is simple. The previous film or films continue to make a great amount of money at the box office and in dvd sales. If a film doesn't reach a certain profit margin odds are that's the last one you'll see of that franchise....well until 20 years later when they run out of ideas again.

Movie Reviews ( REAR WINDOW-1954)

For movie viewers in the 21st century it seems Rear Window a film by Alfred Hitchcock written by John Michael Hayes is one they may not be aware of. Well you should be. Many films have used this formula first established by Hitchcock since its release. In fact as recently as Disturbia (2006) a somewhat homage to Rear Window, but some would argue flat out rip off. The feeling created by Hitchcock of being isolated in a room or house with no power to leave or do anything about what you see out your window. Questions like whats my neighbor up to with that trunk? Why's his wife missing? Whats that  bag with blood all over it? The viewers mind runs wild with the possibilities. The key though is the moment in the film when you find yourself mad at the main character the supposed hero for spying on the murderer in the first place. Again Hitchcock makes you sympathize with the character we normally hate.  It's this moral dilemma that drives many of his films..but never better done then in REAR WINDOW.
Grace Kelly and James Stewart both Hitchcock favorites are a perfect match in this film.  Stewart's great role as the wheelchair ridden "LB Jeffries". a writer who is afraid of his love for Kelly's character "Lisa Anne Fremont".  Kelly's first entrance into the movie is one of the best shots in film history. Throughout the picture Stewart and Kelly have many fun exchanges as well as tense moments like when Kelly risks her self to snoop around for Stewart.
In closing if you want to watch the genesis for the modern next door killer thriller...REAR WINDOW is that movie.

Movie News "The Help My Feel Good Story"

In box office news we found The Help starring Emma Stone winning again. That makes it the third straight week it's won at the box office. Remarkably this is the first film to reach that many weeks at the top spot since Inception (2010) did it behind a huge marketing campaign. In a summer where many remakes have flopped and big budget films haven't generated interest it's good to see a film pick up steam due to word of mouth and pull off the upset. Also in the case of Emma Stone she has become the every girl possibly taking the place of Lindsay Lohan. We all know how her story ended. My gut tells me we can expect a long career from Emma, here's to you and your great start to a hopefully wonderful career. The Help my feel good box office story of 2011.
